Before watching this video I was always under the impression that the Outback was the middle child that sat between the Crosstrek and Forester in size. Did not know that I was wrong for nearly a decade

I love my 2022 Wilderness Outback, though a tiny bit envious of the 9.5" of clearance on the new version.

Perfect presentation, it summarizes everything. The only information I wanted was the leg room in the back seat

They say their engine is reliable and that is total BS My wife’s 2017 Crosstrek with 75k miles which has been maintained religiously is leaking oil out of the engines cam-carrier. It’s saturated the 02 sensors which lead to all kinds of combustion (and driving issues) the Subaru dealer wanted to originally charge k for the repair and then offered to discount it to k. Per Subaru There was no preventive maintenance that could’ve prevented this failure because the cam carrier is glued together with a silicone sealant that degrades over time (and yes! We made sure the PCV valve was good) I used to be the biggest Subaru advocate (we’ve owned 4) and now I feel so betrayed.

I’d pick the Forester Wilderness—and I actually own a 2024 model. For me, the size is just right: easy to park, great visibility, and the legroom and cargo space hit that sweet spot between compact and practical. It feels like a true SUV without being bulky. Add in Subaru’s AWD and the high roof load rating, and it’s a great setup for light off-roading and weekend trips. That said, I’ve often found myself wishing it had a bit more power—especially when driving at elevation or with the car fully loaded. The 2.5L engine just starts to feel winded on long climbs or highway merges. I also think the tires could be beefier across the whole Wilderness line. I’ve seen the 2026 Forester is moving up to 235s, which is a step in the right direction, but honestly, 245s feel like the right starting point for this kind of vehicle. It’s really close to being the perfect do-it-all adventure SUV. A little more torque, a little more tire—and it would be truly unstoppable. Don’t be afraid to let the Wilderness go wild!

The Crosstrek is my favourite

I love my CTW.... Except for the HORRIBLE infotainment. Subaru really dropped the ball here. The 11" fully integrated system is laggy, slow to respond, and a huge distraction while driving. It takes too many taps to do much of anything, distracting the driver and taking their eyes off the road. The wider eyesight angle is also a detriment as it has almost caused multiple accidents when detecting cars in the off ramp/on ramp and slamming on the brakes while I'm driving in the right hand lane. The 8" setup with manual climate controls in the 2025 FTW is really the best of both worlds. This is the idea setup for the target audience that the Wilderness model is designed for. People want to be able to jump in and change climate controls at the touch of a button and not having to navigate through the infotainment. Climate auto default settings often need to be changed, like turning off A/C or adjusting the zone, so relying on Auto is also not really efficient.

Outback looks very cool but might be getting an Ascent because of extra space. Will be looking at both in about 2yrs.

How about a Subaru Impreza Wilderness LOL. I was looking into getting a Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness, but couldn't get financed so you guys lost a sale :(. Not that you care. Went with a Toyota Camry.

My 2025 OBW has horrible infotainment lag which makes it unbearable to drive at times. The car also lacks low end torque, which is probably because of CVT tuning. I believe both of these can be fixed with software. Please fix these and the car will be enjoyable.
