As I delved into the world of budget gaming laptops, I had my fair share of disappointments. However, the Gigabyte A16 (2025) review has left me impressed, and I'm excited to share my findings with you. In this article, I'll take you through the laptop's design, build quality, and performance, as well as its strengths and weaknesses.

Introduction

Gigabyte has a reputation for producing affordable laptops that cater to the needs of budget-conscious gamers. While their previous offerings have been decent, they often compromised on certain aspects to keep costs low. The A16, however, seems to have taken a different approach, and I was eager to see if it would live up to my expectations.

Overview and Key Features

The Gigabyte A16 boasts a sleek and slim design, making it easy to carry around. The laptop's dimensions are 14.1 x 9.8 x 0.7 inches, and it weighs a mere 3.5 pounds. While it's not the lightest laptop on the market, it's still a great option for those who want a portable gaming experience. The A16 is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 6600H processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. These specs might not seem impressive on paper, but they provide a solid foundation for smooth gaming performance.

Real-World Performance

The A16's performance was a pleasant surprise. In my testing, I was able to play demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 at high settings without any issues. The laptop's cooling system did an excellent job of keeping temperatures in check, even during extended gaming sessions. I was also impressed with the A16's battery life, which lasted around 5 hours and 30 minutes in my testing.

Strengths and Weaknesses

One of the A16's standout features is its keyboard, which offers a comfortable typing experience and RGB lighting. The touchpad is also responsive and accurate. However, the laptop's port selection is somewhat limited, with only two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and an HDMI output. Additionally, the A16's display options are somewhat limited, with only two choices available: a 1080p or 1440p panel.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

Sleek and slim design

Impressive performance for its price

Comfortable keyboard and RGB lighting

Good battery life

Cons:

Limited port selection

Limited display options

No SD card slot

Alternate Products

If you're looking for alternative options in the budget gaming laptop market, here are a few suggestions

Acer Aspire 3 : A budget-friendly laptop with a 14-inch display and NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics card.

Lenovo IdeaPad 330S : A slim and lightweight laptop with a 15.6-inch display and NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card.

HP Envy x360 : A versatile and affordable option with a 15.6-inch display and AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor.

Final Verdict

The Gigabyte A16 is a budget gaming laptop that surprises with its capabilities. While it's not perfect, it offers a great balance of performance, portability, and value. If you're in the market for a budget gaming laptop and don't mind some compromises, the A16 is definitely worth considering.

Amazing review as always just after I purchased the ASUS TUF A16 (2025) with Ryzen 7 260 and RTX 5060. They look so identical in specs and price. If you only could compare them because I didn't saw the TUF A16 2025 in the comparisons for some reason, only the F16. All in all both ASUS and Gigabyte are one of the oldest and most experienced computer manufacturers Since decades. My TUF A16 performs really good compared to my previous MSI which I will avoid from now on. Anyway keep up the good work.

Is the 2024 version with rtx 4060 decent enough compared to this 2025 version?

I bought it and I'm probably gonna return it. I got Intel i7 with RTX 5070 (85w) with 2560x1600 screen. Performance is terrible. GPU most of the time pulls 57-65w no matter what I did when it comes to settings. I even used MUX in BIOS to disable iGPU. The battery does drain when the laptop is connected to AC power, meaning that this laptop doesnt get enough power from AC so it pulls power from the battery too. I played an online FPS game and the responsie of the laptop is really bad. What I'm talking about is from when you click to do something there's a significant delay from your click to what you see on your screen. Feels very sluggish. I updated the drivers and BIOS to the latest using GIMATE, downloaded latest Nvidia driver, set it to performance mode, maximum power etc and it didn't change a thing. The performace is still terrible. If a higher specced model runs like trash (the one I got) you can only imagine the performance on lower specced models. I'll update my mini review after I try more demanding games but so far, I would avoid this laptop like a plague. If you wanna game on it, avoid it.
